Leidos has made the announcement that it has entered into a definitive agreement with Cobham Limited to acquire the Special Mission business of Cobham Aviation Services Australia. This will add airborne surveillance and search and rescue operations to the portfolio of services offered by Leidos Australia.

The Australian federal government uses the services of the Special Mission business to provide airborne border monitoring as well as search and rescue operations.

According to a press release issued by Leidos, the closure of the transaction is contingent on the typical circumstances, including permission from regulatory authorities.

According to comments made by Leidos' Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Roger Krone, "Cobham's Special Mission team executes important operations that secure Australia's borders, support law enforcement and environmental protection, and save lives." The incorporation of Special Mission into Leidos Australia will broaden the reach of our worldwide aerial intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) capabilities, diversify our income streams, and create new opportunities for expansion.

Cobham Special Mission owns and operates 14 modified aircraft to deliver critical services across Australia. These services include civil maritime surveillance operations under contract with the Australian Border Force, patrolling Australia's 8.2 million square kilometre Exclusive Economic Zone; providing fixed wing search-and-rescue response capability over land and sea on behalf of the Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA); and operating a highly specialised mission aircrew. These services are provided by Cobham Special Mission, which is owned and operated by Cobham Special Mission.

Leidos Australia Chief Executive Paul Chase commented, "I have the utmost regard and admiration for Cobham's Special Mission team and their performance in service to the Government." "I have the greatest respect and appreciation for their performance," As a result of the acquisition of the Special Mission business, we will be able to provide expanded and novel services to customers all around Australia. I am very excited to be working with such a talented group of people."

Kim Gillis, chairman of Cobham Aviation Services, referred to the partnership as "a wonderful marriage." "Leidos has operations that are remarkably complementary to those of Cobham Special Mission in airborne ISR, as well as deep platform integration expertise. Additionally, both organisations uphold exceptional track records of delivering mission critical services to customers in the government and the defence sector."
